About Jerome Jesseau

A natural storyteller and fellow ‘ordinary Newfoundlander’

Jerome Jesseau grew up in Grand Falls NL in the 1950-60s. Following studies at Memorial University he accepted a teaching position in Corner Brook NL. His teaching career included assignments in Saskatchewan, Alberta, as well as in Germany. But he kept returning to Corner Brook, where he now resides. During this journey, he met and married Jane Dove, who was a Physical Education teacher, and subsequently, a Hospital Foundation executive.

Jane and Jerome have three “Darlin’ Daughters” (Karen, Anne, and Pamela), and with their husbands (Robert, Greg, and Mike), seven grandchildren.

Throughout his career he has been active in several community organizations, in which he has held various executive positions. These include the Humber Community YMCA, the Corner Brook Curling Club, and the Canada Winter Games. He has also participated in numerous sports, including hockey, curling, golf, and skiing.

When retirement was approaching, he began to muse about developing a writing project. A friend suggested that his old neighbour, Wilfred Osmond, might be a rich source of ideas for such an undertaking. Thus began a 20-year project, which included dozens of revisions and re-writes. Finally, here is a tale for you to enjoy, Running Before the Wind.

A proud ordinary Newfoundland himself, Jerome lives in Woody Point NL in the summer, and Corner Brook NL in the winter.
